What’s the role?

As part of a newly developing Sales function in the USA, the Business Development Manager will be instrumental in maximising sales through developing and maintaining stable business relationships in your assigned region through face to face contact and selling.

We’re hiring across the USA with Business Development Managers needed to cover several key regions.

This is a massive opportunity for you - selling a premium and highly regarded product that has unrivalled product quality, craftsmanship, customer care and a strong reputation. You will be well supported both domestically and from the UK Head Office with marketing, lead generation and anything else you need to help you succeed.

You’ll be building solid and profitable business relationships with distributors, merchants, stockists, specifiers and a wide range of other sales channels, spending the majority of your time on the road visiting potential clients.

This role will entail extensive travel, being on the road 9 days out of 10 and will include overnight stays.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and develop business relationships whilst upholding brand reputation
     
  • Work within the regional team to hit and overachieve regional sales targets
     
  • Visiting top distributors and general resellers to build sales relationships, managing appropriate merchandising and product training staff
     
  • Visit contractors and developers on site to help with best practice for installations
     
  • Presenting technical information and solutions to Architects / Contractors, and supporting negotiation where appropriate
     
  • Working with Lead Generation, Internal Sales and Projects teams to optimise regional sales
     
  • Conduct annual reviews for Approved Installers
     
  • Continually develop industry knowledge, regulations needed and know-how
     
  • Work with marketing to maximise potential and gain market insight
     
  • Complete daily KPI reports and visit feedback on time
     
  • Work with External Sales Support to manage your calendar and book appointments with clients
     
  • All other duties as assigned

     
Your Background and Experience:
  • Previous experience of face-to-face selling / presenting is required
     
  • Previous experience in construction materials and working with distribution / builders merchants is highly preferred
     
  • Previous experience in working in specification sales is highly preferred
     
  • Sales Target and Customer centric driven
     
  • Practical knowledge & understanding of construction processes would be an advantage
     
  • Able to build relationship with clients but be firm when needed
     
  • Open and honest attitude to all
     
  • Hungry, Humble and Smart (see Patrick Lencioni)
     
  • Willing to learn and develop, with a self-starter mind-set and an enthusiastic ‘Can do’ attitude
     
  • Proven ability of meeting and exceeding internal and external stakeholder requirements and able to demonstrate the ability to achieve objectives and exceed expectations
     
  • Ability to adapt and respond to change
     
  • Self-motivated with initiative to continue improvement through communication and teamwork
