No5 the House: A gorgeous courtyard garden in London
We were delighted to recently work with Val, the owner of Instagram account @no5_thehouse. Val shares snippets of his home with his audience, including makeovers, DIY projects and travel.
His Victorian property is a beautiful blend of both traditional and contemporary interiors, with features such as traditional panelling alongside colourful modern art pieces. Val shares some incredible before and afters of his beautiful London home, with all rooms having received a wonderful make over – the garden being the last area to tackle.
Having had balau hardwood decking fitted, despite being known for its durability, it was unfortunately not long before it started to break up, split and warp. Having experienced the upkeep associated with wood decking, Val’s search for a new replacement needed to be low maintenance whilst looking just like the real thing.
Val explains “When I received my Millboard samples, I was blown away with how real it looked. I loved that each plank was different with no two being the same colour. It really adds to the authentic look, and the finish was so impressive.
“A visit to the London Showroom also helped me decide on the ideal colour for my space. To say that I am over the moon with the outcome is an understatement
This decking has been such a showstopper when friends come round. Everyone keeps asking if it’s real wood. I am so glad I found Millboard!
We adore how the inside flows seamlessly from the garden to the outside, extending the kitchen and creating an extra room outside for socialising and entertaining friends.
It’s amazing to see how multi-functional the space has become – it can easily go from an area to spend lazy summer days relaxing in the sunshine with a good book, to evenings entertaining friends and cooking up delicious food to dine alfresco. The perfect set up to Live Life Outside!
