Located in the serene landscape of St. Peter Port, Guernsey, La Vigne stands as a testament to modern architecture blending seamlessly with its surroundings. Spearheaded by DLM Architects Ltd and commissioned by the Infinity Group, La Vigne comprises 13 thoughtfully designed dwellings, including 5 houses and 8 apartments, catering to diverse needs and lifestyles and addressing local needs.

The Envello Shadow Line+ cladding board has been moulded from real oak masters and designed to perfectly replicate smooth timber with a flat grained finish, giving a clean authentic look. The increased width of the Shadow Line+ board compared to standard timber boards means there is larger grain detail. This gives an enhanced visual impact, without risk of the board twisting or warping over time.
Tested to the rigorous demands of BS EN 13501-1, the Shadow Line+ system achieves a classification of Euroclass D.
Challenges and Solutions:
The project navigated a challenging topography, optimising views and integrating seamlessly into the landscape. Embracing a hybrid methodology of cavity construction and timber frame, the development achieved robustness and high thermal performance while prioritising sustainability and ease of maintenance.
Millboard's Contribution:
Central to La Vigne's aesthetic appeal and longevity is the implementation of Millboard's Shadow Line+ Cladding in Antique Oak. The use of Millboard products, including external corners, fascia boards, horizontal starter trims, and perforated closers, ensured a modern, clean façade that aligned perfectly with the design intentions. The cladding's durability and low maintenance qualities were particularly valued, offering a timeless aesthetic while requiring minimal upkeep.
Community and Environmental Impact:
La Vigne goes beyond mere construction; it embodies a conscientious approach to housing. Each unit was meticulously designed to meet individual needs and lifestyles, promoting lifetime accessibility and broad appeal. The development features comprehensive landscaping, including over 50 new trees and communal green spaces, fostering a sense of community and ecological balance. Sustainable practices, such as permeable paving and energy-efficient fixtures, further underscore La Vigne's commitment to environmental responsibility.
